Fort Matanzas

Fort Matanzas, nestled on Florida's northern Atlantic coast, comprises a 1740 Spanish fort and a 100-miles salt marsh and barrier islands stretch along the Matanzas River. In 1924, it was declared a United States National Monument. Later, in 1966, the site was included on the National Register of Historic Places as a historic area under the Park Service.
