Musee de l'Orangerie in Parijs

Musee de l'Orangerie

Musee de l'Orangerie is a popular art museum in Paris located in the Jardin des Tuileries. The museum is known for its collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art, including works by Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and Paul Cézanne. The museum also houses eight large-scale water lily murals by Monet, which were specially designed to fit the curved walls of two oval-shaped rooms. Musee de l'Orangerie was originally built in 1852 to store orange trees in the winter, hence the name "Orangerie". After World War I, the building was repurposed as an art museum, and it has been a popular attraction in Paris ever since.
